PEHAL 2011

THEME

"Success is not measured by what you accomplish, but by the opposition you have encountered, and the courage with which you have maintained the struggle against overwhelming odds".

If we go by Lord Macaulay's address to the British Parliament on Feb 2, 1835: " I have travelled across the length and breadth of India and I have not seen one person who is a beggar, who is a thief. Such wealth I have seen in this country, such high moral values, people of such calibre, that I do not think we would ever conquer this country, unless we break the very backbone of this nation, which is her spiritual and cultural heritage ........... ", we can see how India was so rich both in technology and business practices, that there were no beggars and thieves.

Today by adopting modern technology and modern business practices, we have created innumerable problems for ourselves and our society. If India was so rich economically and socially then, shouldn't we revive our past to build a better future?
The objective of this event and competition, is to make today's youth think on these lines, unearth buried (forgotten) practices, and apply them in today's context to overcome the problems we are facing today. Here is one such opportunity for you to address a modern day problem with a forgotten technology / practice that we have written off as outdated / traditional.

All bright and brilliant minds (18-25 years of age) that think differently and out of the box, are invited to participate in the various events of "PEHAL-2011" (a Techno-Social Competition based event) being organized by Social Welfare Association of Neo Socialites (SWANS), Bhopal.

The theme for PEHAL-2011 is "TRADITIONAL SOLUTIONS FOR MODERN DAY PROBLEMS".

SWANS is a group of students and professionals from various streams, volunteering in their free time, to share their knowledge and expertise to bring the poor and underprivileged to the same levels of development.
